Dust and masks

Hallo Embassy-Supporter*in,

Was wären aktuell anstehenden Arbeiten?

Hello Embassy Supporter*,

For some of us who are very near to having a nervous breakdown (and who are not lying around at home sick or overworked), it might be a good idea to continue to pursue our own and shared dreams. But I have to admit: I myself am also torn between corona (pre)cautionand the desire to do something to not let the limited time of the Burner Embassy Berlin drain away.

Nevertheless, contact restrictions still apply in Berlin, and it is not yet time to work together as we used to. What is possible from my point of view, however, is to carry out construction work in the Embassy in a small number of people, taking into account the hygiene regulations (in particular the wearing of masks and disinfection), so that when open events are again possible, we can realize even more of the artistic and communicative potential of our space. Therefore, fewer people are more likely better 🙂

What would be current tasks?

  • Cleaning up and redesigning the outdoor area to the street
  • Improve the large space in some areas
  • Improve security through different (steel?) doors
  • Building the upper level in the small room according to the plans of Amihay&MokKa

As far as the small space is concerned: the use as office space that has been considered so far seems to be rather less relevant. In the short term, it is probably more useful to design the plateau as a workshop room with carpet and soft furniture/mattresses, a bit like with the BaR meetings at the Filmkunst Fitzcarraldo. This way we would have a small area with a manageable amount of work, which would later be extended with an additional level in the large room (which needs to be planned in detail first).

To get ahead and determine the next steps and what needs to be done, we want to meet

tomorrow, Wednesday, from 19:00 online on our Burner Embassy conference server (https://campfire.burnerembassy.berlin/fireplace, using Jitsi Meet App or Google Chrome Browser)

Ideally, we could get the missing material and get started on Saturday (with registration by name).
